United Nations Case Study

Promoting International Cooperation

The United Nations Working Group on Big Data aims to democratize access to analytic resources for determining economic and population data in the developing world. The group's goal is to create a repository of available algorithms to help countries understand trends in their social, health, environmental, and economic data to inform better decision making.

Algorithmia enabled the UN to:

  • Provide global access to algorithms
  • Rely on scalable compute as more countries engage
  • Optimize resources without extensive DevOps needs

"Algorithmia powers the Methods Service for the United Nations Global Platform for Official Statistics, which enables statisticians, data scientists and researchers from all over the world to share, develop and test cutting-edge statistical methods and machine learning models.”

Ivo Havinga, Associate Director, UN Statistics Division
