Year In Review: Looking Back At Algorithmia's Banner Year

Algorithmia Year In Review 2016Dear Friends of Algorithmia,

Every year we like to take a small step back and reflect on what we achieved in 2016. Last year we went from private beta to a top Seattle startup.

2016, as we hoped it would be, was a big year for us. We provided more than 30,000 developers with access to over 2,700 algorithmic microservices - a humbling achievement for our small, dedicated team.

Our grand vision remains the same: Build the standard API where algorithms, functions, and models are discoverable and accessible to everyone.

In no particular order, here's some of our big announcements from 2016:

Support for new languages
We now have clients for Go, Java, Javascript, Node.js, Python, R, Ruby, Rust, Scala, Android, and Swift. Holding true to our promise to make algorithms, functions, and models accessible to you no matter what language your prefer.

Support for GPUs and Deep Learning
Easily build and use GPU-powered microservices. We even support Theano, Caffe, TensorFlow, Torch, CNTK, and MxNet out of the box.

Turn your models into scalable microservices
From R to Scikit-Learn, it’s never been easier to productionize your models for internet scale.

Support for git
You have your favorite development environment and we believe you should stick to it. That's why we have made Algorithmia work directly with git. The integration couldn't be easier.

Multi-zone, multi-cloud
We have always had a guiding principle of data is heavy and expensive to move, but compute is cheap and light. Therefore making our platform available in multiple clouds and zones was a no brainer for us. We cover almost every region of Amazon Web Services and have started rolling out our Microsoft Azure deployments. Our goal is to always be  as close to your data as possible.

Algorithmia for Enterprises
Not all businesses can use public cloud services and we understand that. That’s why we’ve created an enterprise-grade version of Algorithmia. All the features of, but behind your firewall.

Plus, we were recognized by some of the leading publications in our field: Wired, Gartner, IDC, and CRN to name a few.

I want to take the time to also say “thank you” to our team. I feel privileged to be able to work by your side on a daily basis.

Looking forward to 2017, the best is still to come. We are doubling down on making Algorithmia the easiest place to find, host, and scale algorithms, functions, and microservices. As a new wave of smart applications hit every industry, Algorithmia will be here to help you ride it out.

To the developers that rely on us, we’re dedicating 2017 to making Algorithmia the best developer experience possible, with a new developer center, a more intuitive algorithm publishing workflow, better discovery tools, and more.

Feel free to reply or reach out to me directly at – I would love to hear from you.

Happy Holidays,

Diego Oppenheimer, Algorithmia CEO
